PREGABALIN AND GABAPENTIN
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS
The Home Office has reclassified Pregabalin and Gabapentin as Scheduled 3 Controlled Drugs. As a result, we have had to change our policy for prescribing this medication in order to comply with this new classification.
The following changes will take effect as of 1 April 2019:
• You will need to provide identification when collecting your medication from your Pharmacy
• If you do not have a nominated local pharmacy you will need to bring identification to collect your prescription from the Practice
• The maximum number of days’ supply will be 28 days – so if you usually receive a prescription for 56 days’ supply at present this will be changed to 28 days.

We appreciate that these changes may be inconvenient for our patients but we must adhere to the Home Office guidelines and are unable to vary the conditions stated above.
