Non-urgent advice: Please Note
Whichever method you use you must allow 3 working days for your prescription to be ready for collection from the surgery or sent to your pharmacy – whichever you prefer.
Pharmacies will need time to prepare your medication.
You can order repeat medication up to 2 weeks before you are due to use the last of your current supply. Please give us as much notice as possible.
In the event of requesting medication which is not on your repeat medication or if you are overdue a medication review, it may take longer than 48 hours as a doctor will have to review the request.
In order to prescribe medication safely, the doctors may ask you to book an appointment, either face to face or in person to discuss your prescriptions. The duration of the prescription may be reduced during this time at the doctor’s discretion.
All Hospital Repeat Prescriptions should be obtained from hospital.

Ordering a Prescription
If you would like to order further supplies of a medication that is listed as a repeat item on the right hand side of your prescription, there are several different ways you can arrange this:
Online
Our online prescription request service is part of SystmOne online. In order to make an account, you will need to bring your photo ID, either Passport or Driving Licence, and proof of your address into the surgery. We will then be able to issue you with your login details; this is to protect the security of your medical record.
You can also use other online services, NHS App.
In Person
Bring your request to the surgery on Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 6:00pm.
There is a post box in the waiting room, please ask the receptionist if you cannot find it.
If you need to post your request when the surgery is closed there is also a post box in the wall to the left of the main surgery entrance next to the fence.
By Email

You can contact the practice between 10am – 11:30 and 2pm-3pm (this is only for patients who are exempt from using the app/email) or if a patient has a query.

Nomination Form for Electronic Prescriptions
As from Tuesday 17 March all prescriptions issued by The Wycliffe Medical Practice will be sent electronically. If you have not nominated pharmacy, you will be given a token to take to the pharmacy to get your prescription dispensed.
To reduce the time and effort taken to obtain your medication we suggest that all of our patients nominate a pharmacy.
You can nominate a pharmacy in either by completing our online form or contacting us on 01455 553531 and asking a member of the reception team to nominate a pharmacy for you.
Synchronising your Medication
We appreciate that if you have several different repeat medications which run out at different times, it can be very inconvenient because you need to pick up repeat prescriptions more often than necessary.
If you would like us to issue you with a ‘catch-up’ prescription so that in future all your repeat medications become due at the same time, please download the synchronising medication form and bring your completed form into the surgery. Obviously we cannot do this with medication where the daily dose varies, for example painkillers or Warfarin.
Please count the number of each different item that you have and fill in the first four columns and return the form to us before you need to order any more medication. We will then issue a catch-up prescription for you.
Prescription Charges
People in the following categories are automatically exempt from prescription charges: children under 16, under 19 and in full-time education and all patients over 60 years of age. Other exemption categories are listed on the reverse of the prescription form.
Pre-payment Certificate
If you are not exempt from prescription charges a pre-payment certificate can make prescriptions more affordable. You can speak to your Pharmacist about this or call 0845 850 0030 for advice. You can also apply for a pre-payment certificate online at:

Going on Your Holidays
If you are going on holiday for a longer period of time you can request more one month’s medication. Please complete the attached form and bring it into the Surgery for processing.
Please be aware you will only be able to get 3 months, after that you will have to pay.
3 month holiday prescription protocol
Patients are to inform the surgery of their holiday departure date and return date.
The maximum duration we can issue is 84 days. If your holiday exceeds 84 days then you will need to pay privately for extra days or obtain the medication from your destination of travel.
The maximum supply of Controlled Drugs is 28 days.
3 months supply of medication may also be refused if monitoring is overdue e.g. blood tests, BP etc.
Patients can order normal supply of medication to cover up until departure date of holiday. In some instances, a scheduled reminder can be generated by the practice to process the prescription to be at the chemist for supply after the holiday.
